You thought you were rid of Ozzy Osbourne when Osbournes Reloaded ended its short stint in 2009? Think again. The Prince of Darkness has recently debuted his new radio channel on Sirius Radio #38, replacing the old "Boneyard" with "Ozzy's Boneyard." The channel will still play classic hard rock and heavy metal (like AC/DC, Pantera, and Van Halen), and also include specials hosted by Sharon, Jack, and Kelly.
The premiere episode had Osbourne talking to Jose Mangin, the Black Sabbath frontman who also appears on Sirius, mostly about Tony Iommi's lymphoma diagnosis.
Ozzy is certainly not the first musician to have his own radio station, joining the ranks of "Elvis Radio," Willie Nelson's "Willie's Roadhouse," BB King's "Bluesville," Jimmy Buffett's "Radio Margaritaville," "Siriusly Sinatra," Bruce Springsteen's "E Street Radio," Eminem's "Shade 45," and "Pearl Jam Radio."
Today also marks the anniversary of Black Sabbath's self-titled debut album, released all the way back in 1970 on Vertigo Records. Although it 'only' hit #8 on the UK album charts, the band eventually blazed the trail for heavy metal being more recognized in the mainstream.
