At 9:30 a.m., next Wednesday, June 25, the Ozarks Genealogical Society will hold their Wednesay workshop which will feature KSMU Radio journalist Jennifer Davidson who will talk about "How to Interview Someone You Care About." Obtaining family history interviews are a key resource for your Springfield family history and genealogy research.

Davidson will provide tips on how to conduct the intimate family history interview that we each hope to make. She will also share information on how to record that interview for future use in several ways. Davidson also will explain why it is so important to conduct these interviews now, as part of each our responsibilities as Springfield area family history and genealogy researchers as part of genealogical preservation.

For further information on this program, contact Kathleen O'Dell, community relations director, at kathleeno@thelibrary.org.

In her press release, O'Dell also reminded patrons that the Library now has been approved to process U.S. passport applications at The Library Center. No appointment is required. Library staff processed 15 passport applications on the first day alone, June 9. This service is now available from 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday. The Library Staff recommends a visit to the website: travel.state.gov to know about all the required documents and fees before coming to the Library. They also recommend filling out the online application. The library does have paper applications. Note: The Library Center cannot process renewals. Consult the website for how to handle those. All fees must be paid with a check or money order. The library can take passport photos for travel, school or other documents for 10 dollars, payable to the library with a check, money order or cash.

The Library Center is located at 4653 S. Campbell Avenue.
