It is always exciting when a new program starts.

That excitement will be there for the Oxford Hills girls tennis program.

The Vikings will play varsity competition for the first time this season. They have played at the junior varsity level for the past seven years.

"This is our first year as a varsity program in the KVAC. We go into this season free of expectations of outcomes,"coach Walter Perry said. "The teams we play will be tougher competition than we may haveseen in previous years, so it will be interesting where we land at the end of the season. We are just excited to finally have a varsity team after seven years of JV."

Senior Alyssa DeSilva will play the number one spot for the Vikings.

"We have a great group of girls that get along and have fun. Alyssa DeSilva will play the number one spot,"Perry said. "We are the new kids on the block so preparing for the
competition is tough to do."

Oxford Hills will open the season with a home match against Brunswick on April 17th. Click here for the full schedule.
