OWS violence: this isn't your grandfather's tea party

The Occupy Wall Street (OWS) movement took a dramatic violent turn today as protesters targeted the New York Stock Exchange and threatened to shut down Wall St. Yesterday there were warnings that Molotov Cocktails would be thrown into buildings.

The police were ready. In full riot gear law enforcement moved in on the crowd, arresting at least 100 and utilizing helicopters to underscore their seriousness about stopping any move toward violence.

This expose explains in depth the origins and intent of the movement.

In an attempt from the beginning to portray the movement as simply as a non-partisan peaceful gathering of patriotic citizens, organizers often compared the protests to that of the Tea Party. But these demonstrations of violence draw a clear distinction between the two. OWS is not your grandfather's tea party.

During countless Tea Party gatherings across the country in 2009 and 2010, there were no displays of violence or even the slightest hint of lawless activity. The gatherings were peaceful. And when the crowds departed there was no garbage left behind. Participants were respectful of property by avoiding trashing it.

No one was arrested. No threats were issued to burn down buildings. The goals were clear--to make a statement that mainstream America opposed the reckless spending of the Obama Administration and Congress, which has led to a crippling national debt that still threatens our undoing as a nation.

Thousands of military veterans, retirees, business owners, middle class mothers, and other ordinary Americans who work their jobs and pay their taxes banded together to send a message to Washington--"if we are expected to keep our financial house in order and avoid spending more than we take in, then you need to do the same.'

In stark contrast, the Occupy movement has consisted of displaced hippies from the 1960s who are still looking for something to protest. They found a convenient scapegoat in Wall Street. Thus, every known anti-capitalist group in the nation jumped on board this movement to decry the 'profit motive' and attempt to destroy the American way of life. Their goal is not to reform Wall Street but to destroy it and replace it with Marxist principles that are antithetical to every known freedom embodied in the U.S. Constitution.

Domestic terrorist Bill Ayers was there. Leftwing agitator Jodie Evans of Code Pink was there. Self-avowed Communist Van Jones was there. Marxist propagandist Michael Moore was there. Indeed, all of the usual suspects among the 'destroy America' cabal were there in some way--George Soros, SEIU, ACORN, Moveon.org, the Tides Center, Stephen Lerner, and the Ruckus Society, which perpetrated mass violence at the 1999 meeting of the World Trade Organization in Seattle.

And Barack Obama has been there, urging them on.

When an American President lends the authority of his office to a movement that is decidedly anti-American, is it difficult to explain why the nation stands on the precipice of complete collapse at this juncture in history?
