Sam, a five-year-old German shepherd, was left at the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control in Downey, Calif., on Aug. 30; his owners surrendered him because they were moving.
As that family moved on, Sam was left in a kennel run, surrounded by the faces of people he does not know, smells that are not familiar, and the upsetting sounds coming from other impounded dogs who are afraid and stressed by their own emotional trauma.
On the facility's website, there is no information about Sam - but there are things that can be taken away from his solitary photo - things like Sam's alert, intelligent eyes and confident, regal bearing.
By the length of time that Sam has been granted at the facility, it is unlikely that he has exhibited concerning behavior...though Sam has survived at the crowded facility for over a month, he is not safe.
In order to walk free from this building, Sam needs the help of strangers who are willing to take two seconds out of their day to network on his behalf. Please take a moment to share Sam's information.
