Nevada Williams of Garfield Heights, Ohio, faces animal cruelty charges, animal abandonment, and filing a false report on Friday after an emaciated boxer was rescued on Wednesday and barely able to stand reported 19actionnews.com.
Williams, 43, called the dog whose named is Coco, in as a stray.
Authorities were able to tie Williams in as Coco's owner from a veterinarian in Columbus who had recently removed one of the dog's eyes because of cancer.
Another boxer dog, apparently in better physical condition was removed from Williams' home.
A statement from Garfield Heights Animal Control was posted on Facebook late Friday night:
"...Both dogs will remain in the custody of Garfield Hts ACO until a court order says where they would like me to go from there. All fostering and adopting of unclaimed and neglected animals is handled by the Garfield & Maple Hts Animal Rescue Team, and whether you are a rescue or an individual, applications must me filled out and approved and can be found at: http://www.gmhart.org/forms.html I have received over 250 calls, emails, messages, etc asking about helping these animals which is tremendous..."
A court date has been scheduled for March 26.
