Owner had a "change in lifestyle," dumped 13-year-old senior girl at the shelter

This is Mickey, a 13-year-old senior. Her story is so sad, yet so common, and happens to older dogs who no longer serve a purpose to their family. When that happens, many times the dog is dumped at the high-kill shelter in Greenville, along with a feeble excuse for abandoning a once-cherished pet.

She came in after her owner had a "change in lifestyle" that didn't include this sweet girl. Mickey had papers showing medical bills where her owner was trying to clear up a skin issue.

Mickey was considered super urgent, because small senior dogs don't do well in a shelter environment. So Greenville County Pet Rescue put out the call for a rescue to step up and save his furbaby. Her story was shared close to 100 times on the shelter Facebook page.

Sharing does save lives, especially by those who live on Facebook. Boxer Butts & Other Mutts, based out of Arden, North Carolina, has Mickey now. The poor dog is out of the shelter and ready to begin her new life as a cherished family member.

Heidi with Boxer Butts stated on their Facebook page

"We are going to do everything we can to make sure this girl has the best of the best and will always know she is loved and will never have another worry in the world."

It will take money to get Mickey healthy enough for adoption. If you'd like to help Mickey, you can do so by donating to the rescue by clicking here.

Thank you, Boxer Butts, for saving this abandoned baby.
