Owner blames allergies for surrender of pint-sized senior dog to busy shelter

Update 6/11/14: Adopted!!

"Angelic" senior needs a home
United Hope for Animals

On May 27, an "angelic" dog named "Merced Duran" found herself locked away at a busy animal control facility in Baldwin Park, Calif.

The eight-year-old dog was surrendered by her owner because someone in the family supposedly developed allergies. Though this pint-sized senior has been described as "angelic," as of yet, nobody has decided to take a chance on her.

United Hope for Animals shared the following information about little Merced:

Merced Duran is an angelic 8-year-old black-and-white female Short Haired Chihuahua mix who was left by her owners at the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center on May 27th because they claimed they were allergic to her.

Weighing only 4½ pounds, this tiny pooch will be a perfect purse or lap dog. When she sits in your arms and looks around, she looks like a member of the cast of “Meerkat Manor.” We think Merced Duran would prefer to be the queen of the castle as the only pet in her new household.

Due to her small size, she also needs to be in a household with children old enough to be gentle with her. Merced Duran will be a wonderful indoor pocket pet for anyone in any living situation.

Please take a moment to network this lovely older girl's information - she did not ask to be here and she needs the help of strangers in order to leave.
