The Ohio Veterans Fraternal and Charitable Coalition (OVFCC) is proud to recognize the Ada, Ohio Veterans of Foreign War Post 9381 for their ongoing contributions to the village of Ada, Ohio and its surrounding communities.
As an active member of the OVFCC, Post 9381 recently marched in the 100th annual Ada Farmers and Merchants Picnic Parade, proudly announcing that they have, to date, contributed $99,727 to schools and civic organizations in the Ada community. While nearly 50 Post members and spouses participated in the parade, the Farmers and Merchants Picnic regularly draws nearly 5,000 spectators.
Post members gave out flags and candy to children while energetically representing the Ada VFW and the Ada community. Post 9381 also donated eight 3x5 American flags that were given as prizes for the hourly drawings held at the Picnic throughout the day.
"Because of the fun we engendered during the parade in August, we are experiencing an increase in volunteers from the Post for September's parade," said Wynn Hauenstein, Quartermaster for Post 9381. "So not only are we gaining public awareness [for Post 9381], we are also energizing our membership".
Bill Seagraves, OVFCC President, said, "Its members like VFW Post 9381 and the role they play in Ada that should remind all Ohioans of the importance of veterans and fraternal organizations in our cities, towns, and villages. We are proud and humbled to have VFW 9381 in the OVFCC"
VFW 9381 will also participate in the 5th annual "Mid-West National Punkin' Chunkin" contest that will be held at Ada's War Memorial Park the afternoon of the Harvest and Herb Fest. They have won this event three of the last four years. The entry fee is $100 and one hundred percent of the entry fee goes to the Ada War Memorial Park Board for park improvements.
The OVFCC is an unincorporated association that was established in 2003 to achieve consensus and develop policy on various issues affecting veterans and fraternal organizations in the State of Ohio. Member organizations have input regarding charitable gaming as well as legislation, rules and regulations that impact veterans and fraternal organizations.
