Overview shows excitement at Universal Orlando Celebration of Harry Potter event

See also

Universal Orlando Resort is the Florida home of Harry Potter, where you can visit Hogsmeade and Hogwarts Castle in the Islands of Adventure theme park. Later in 2014 you'll also get to walk through Diagon Alley, visiting such iconic places at Gringotts Wizarding Bank, and even ride the Hogwarts Express.

Potter fans didn't have to wait until the summer to immerse themselves in Harry's world. Universal held A Celebration of Harry Potter in January, and the wildly popular event drew droves of fans, many of them in costume, to browse through an expo with exhibitors like Scholastic, MiniLima, Warner Brothers, and, chat with movie cast members in question and answer sessions, learn about wand combat from Paul Harris himself, and sit in on other informative sessions related to their favorite films.

Click the video accompanying this article for a brief overview of the three day event, which spanned both of the parks. It was free with regular admission, and a special vacation package sold in conjunction with the event sold out almost immediately (that package also included admission to an after-hours party, which you can read about here).

If you missed the celebration, don't worry. Diagon Alley opens in the summer, with a level of detail that's on a par with Hogsmeade. Once it opens, it's sure to become the must-do vacation destination for Potter fans.
