Over a million dollars taken from Rowan home

Authorities in Rowan County made a huge seizure today in the amount of $1.44 million. The money was taken from a home in the eastern part of the county today, according to WBTV.

It was believed by the Sheriff’s Office that a huge amount of money, weapons and drugs were in the home, which led agents from a special unit to execute a search warrant in the High Rock Lake area where the home is located.

What was found in the home was $1,439,476.28, an assault weapon, handguns, body armor, ammunition and two vehicles.

Investigators think the money is from drug trafficking.

The money was taken to a Charlotte bank to be counted and placed into an official check. Homeland Security is conducting a Federal asset forfeiture of the money.

No arrests were made but the investigation in continuing.

The United States Department of Homeland Security, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department and the Pineville Police Department were among other agencies helping with the investigation.
