OVC Men’s Basketball Tournament set to begin in Nashville

The 51st OVC Men’s Basketball Tournament is set to begin on Wednesday, March 4th, 2014 at the Municipal Auditorium in Downtown Nashville, which makes it the 4th oldest tournament in Division I basketball. This is the 20th out of the last 21 years that the OVC Men’s Basketball Tournament has been held in Nashville. The tournament consists of the top 8 teams in the conference, regardless of division, whether it is the East or West Division.

The teams participating in this year’s tournament will be Belmont, Murray State, Eastern Kentucky, Morehead State, Tennessee Tech, Southeast Missouri, Eastern Illinois and SIU-Edwardsville. 1st round games start on Wednesday with seeds 5 thru 8. Quarterfinal games kickoff on Thursday, with the winners of the two 1st round games playing either Morehead State or Eastern Kentucky for a spot in the semifinals against either Belmont or Murray State. Then, the winners of games on Friday night will be play for the OVC Men’s Basketball Tournament Championship on Saturday for a berth in NCAA Tournament.

Tickets to each session are $30. They can be purchased at the Municipal Auditorium ticket office. For those who can’t make to the Municipal Auditorium can still enjoy the excitement of the OVC Men’s Basketball Tournament by watching the 1st round and Quarterfinal games by watching the games on the OVC Digital Network (http://www.ovcdigitalnetwork.com), Semifinals on ESPNU and the Championship on ESPN2.
