Many women get ovarian cysts. It is just a matter of whether they grow or not. Ovarian cysts may just come and go, but if it stays and grows, it has to be taken care of and possibly be removed.
There are many different symptoms you may get from having an ovarian cyst. Sexual intercourse may be unpleasant, you may feel pain in your back, you may feel pain in your side, and there may be a bump in the area that you may see in your skin or you may just generally feel uncomfortable sometimes. You may also gain weight as well.
There are several different medications you may be prescribed by your Doctor such as birth control pills to help prevent the future growth of cysts after you have had one removed. It is good to get a physical every year and if you have had a cyst in the past, it is best to get checked every six months or so to detect new cysts and monitor their growth.
If you have an ovarian cyst, your Doctor may send you to a Gynecologist and if the Gynecologist feels that the cyst is too big, they may send you for an operation. Before the operation, it is best not to do too much twisting and lifting because you do not want to cause the cyst to turn and twist the ovary. After the operation, get a lot of rest and eat soup.
In Toronto, there are good Hospitals you may be booked in to get your operation done.
