The developers of Android-based OUYA announced last month that those who backed their Kickstarter campaign would start receiving their consoles after its shipping date, March 28. The developers have today unveiled the date for a thank-you party in the form of a launch event on that same day for those backers.
The event will be held in the fuseproject Bay Area offices, an industrial design and branding company founded by OUYA's current designer, Yves Behar, in 1999. The event is invite-only for backers, but the company has stated that the console will be available in-store at GameStop, Best Buy, Target and other major retailers for the price of $99 in June.
There are a few games currently in development for the OUYA, including an exclusive title from Airtight Games and Kim Swift of Portal and Left 4 Dead; an adventure/puzzler by Papo and Yo's Minority Media; The Ball by Red Orchestra 2 developer Tripwire Interactive, set for release this month; and Action RPG ChronoBlade by nWay.
