Outlaw leads bull riding competition at Calgary Stampede

According to the Calgary Stampede website, Chase Outlaw of Hamburg, Arkansas leads the aggregate standings in the bull riding competition after night one of the Calgary Stampede on Friday. Outlaw, who was riding the bull El Hombre, posted a leading score of 88.5 points.

Outlaw's score was a full three points more than Tyler Smith of Fruita, Colorado, who by riding the bull Tracker, had 85.5 points. Scott Schiffner of Strathmore, Alberta, finished in third place riding the bull Canadian Hurricane, at 82.5 points. Outlaw won $5,500 for leading after day one of the most prestigious rodeo competition in Canada.

In the saddle bronc, Brad Harter of Loranger, Louisiana, riding Devils Who, posted a score of 86 points. Isaac Diaz of Desdemona, Texas is in second place with 85 points riding Unit Doctor. Jacobs Crawley of Stephenville, Texas is in third place with 83 points riding Kick'n It.

In the bareback, Will Lowe of Canyon, Texas leads on Paint Brush, after posting a score of 84.5 points. Richie Champion of Woodlands, Texas riding Scar Face and Clint Laye of Cadogan, Alberta (110 kilometres south of Lloydminster), are tied for second place with 83.5 points.

In the tie-down roping, Ryan Jarrett of Comanche, Oklahoma posted the fastest time of seven seconds. Tuf Cooper of Decatur, Texas was in second place with 7.2 seconds and Fred Whitfield of Hockley, Texas was in third place with 7.4 seconds.

In steer wrestling, Luke Branquinho of Los Alamos, California, posted the fastest time of 3.4 seconds. Straws Milan of Cochrane, Alberta and Bray Armes of Ponder, Texas were tied for second place with a time of 4.2 seconds.

In ladies barrel racing, Kaley Bass of Kissimmee, Florida posted a time of 17.42 seconds. Mary Walker of Ennis, Texas was at 17.52 seconds in second place and Brittany Pozzi of Victoria, Texas was in third place at 17.55 seconds.

Finally, in the chuckwagon racing, Kirk Sutherland of Grande Prairie, Alberta posted the fastest time of 1:12.47. Sutherland's time was 0.32 seconds faster than Jerry Bremner of Westerose, Alberta.
