Today Oct. 29, 2013 Red Barrels Games announced that their indie horror game "Outlast" will be receiving new DLC. The additional game content will feature a new protagonist and storyline at the creepy Mount Massive Asylum. To celebrate, the company's offering a 33% discount on "Outlast." Those who purchase directly from the Red Barrel website for $13.40 will receive a DRM-free version, Steam key, and copy of the soundtrack. Already own the game? The soundtrack, which also released today, is currently on sale separately for $4.
According to a prepared statement we received from the co-founder of Red Barrels Games Philippe Morin:
We’ve gotten a ton of good feedback from Outlast players and one thing is clear. People want us to keep trying to scare them! We’re more than happy to oblige. With the sale we’ve started today and the upcoming DLC, there should be plenty of chances for Outlast to continue to scare the crap out of everyone across the world.
In "Outlast" your survival will depend on your hiding and sneaking skills. You'll need to run or hide from the insane terrors which await you in Mount Massive Asylum. The game's characters are inspired by cases of criminal insanity which were researched by scientific consulting firm Thwacke, Outlast.
Horrors wait inside Mount Massive Asylum. A long-abandoned home for the mentally ill, recently re-opened by the “research and charity” branch of the transnational Murkoff Corporation, has been operating in strict secrecy … until now.
Acting on a tip from an inside source, independent journalist Miles Upshur breaks into the facility, and what he discovers walks a terrifying line between science and religion, nature and something else entirely. Once inside, his only hope of escape lies with the terrible truth at the heart of Mount Massive.
