Atlanta based rap duo, OUTKAST reunites again after 10 year slumber. According to their website, they have announced over 40 new tour dates, including headlining the most anticipated festival of the year, Coachella. The group has also announced they will be headlining 2014's Governors Ball.
Outkast tweeted earlier today,
"It's truly an honor to celebrate 20 years and still be free to do music the way we choose," Big Boi said, via statement. "Don't just think outside the box, know that there is no box. I'm looking forward to rocking the stage with my Bro Ski and to all the fans - stank you smelly much, this is for y'all!"
"And imagine, all we wanted to do was rap! I am thankful to have been a part of a group that allowed me to explore anything that came to mind and have fun doing it. Returning to the stage together is the most exciting way for us to thank everyone for their 20 years of supporting Outkast," André 3000 also stated.
I'm excited as, well as other Outkast fans from all over the world to see one of the most influential groups of all time, not just in Hip Hop, but for music history, having received six Grammy Awards. The last musical taste of the group we got was back in 2003, Speakerboxxx/The Love Below, which has now achieved sales above 11 million records.
Outkast formed in 1992, distinctfully giving us sounds of the G-Funk to space aliens, and hard hitting 808s to jazz pianos, Outkast has released 5 total albums to which were all considered landmarks, with 2 of them (Aquemini and Stankonia) being ranked in the Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest albums of all time.
We look for ward to hearing what Outkast has coming forth, even after the shows... maybe studio album number 6 in the near future?
