The sun is finally shining and the weather has warmed up. Taking one's yoga practice outdoors can be a nice change of pace. Whether on a beach or in a park, here are some of the offerings for folks in Northeast Ohio this summer.
Beach Yoga from Daily Downward Dog
Yoga teacher Maria Santoferraro leads slow flowing hatha style yoga classes to students in Vermilion and Huron out on the beach throughout the summer. Join her in Vermilion at the Main Street Beach for free on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The class is from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.; and runs from June 9 to September 1. She also leads sunset beach class on Tuesday evenings at Linwood Park Beach, also in Vermilion, from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. This class is offered for a drop in fee of $10 and runs from June 6 to August 26. For yogis in Huron, join Santoferraro on Firefly Beach at the Firefly Beach Resort on Wednesday evenings, 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. or on Saturday and Sunday mornings from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Fees for resort guests are only $5 drop in, and for non-guests of the resort, $10. These classes started on May 31 and will run until August 31.

Yoga at Lakewood Park & Rocky River Park
Pink Lotus Yoga Studio, located in Lakewood, Ohio will be leading outdoor yoga classes on Thursday evenings at Lakewood Park from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Pink Lotus will also be hosting outdoor yoga at Rocky River Park on Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. At both locations, classes are donation based and there will be a simultaneous kids class for kids 5 years old and up while the adults enjoy their own class.

Yoga at Coventry P.E.A.C.E Park
For yogis and yoginis on the East side of Cleveland, SpyngaFlows will be holding donation based yoga classes, weather permitting, Sunday evenings from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. These classes will be a vinyasa flow style of class that is welcoming and beneficial to beginners as well as more seasoned yogis. Classes start June 22 and will run until July 27, 2014.

Yoga Rocks the Park is a yoga movement joining communities together through yoga and music throughout the country. The Cleveland YRTP, takes place in Tremont at Lincoln Park on select Saturdays. On select Saturdays, be sure to check times, Yoga Rocks the Park will be held with rotating teachers from around the area. Most are held at 10 a.m. but there is an evening class this year. There will also be live music and kids yoga classes through Urban Lotus Youth Yoga. If it is raining on a scheduled morning, class will be held at the Merrick House right by the park. Ten percent of the proceeds go towards local and national SEVA organizations. The first gathering of the year will be June 14, 2014 with Marni Task leading the yoga class and music from Rebecca Wohlever.

Yoga by The Falls
Chagrin Yoga will be holding outdoor yoga classes the first and third Saturdays throughout the summer from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. These classes are an open level vinyasa flow and they are free. The classes are held at Triangle Park weather permitting. If the weather is not permitting an outdoor class, the class will be held at Township Hall, 83 North Main Street. These free classes are produced by Your HomeTown Chagrin Falls. Chagrin Yoga will also be taking part in a summer solstice celebration at he Metroparks Polo Fields on June 21. This free 2 hour event will allow yogis to welcome summer by practicing 108 sun salutations.

Wade Oval Wednesdays Family Yoga
Zenworks Yoga, a local non-profit that brings yoga to families and children, will be holding free family yoga at the Cleveland Museum of Art as part of the Wade Oval Wednesday event. The classes will be from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. These classes will be held every Wednesday in July and August. Zenworks Yoga will also be holding a Summer Solstice Celebration at Edgewater Park on June 21, 2014. The event will feature yoga, live music from Fireside Live and free henna tattoos courtesy of Fusion Henna Studio. This event will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. There is a $20 donation requested.

Believe in CLE
Gathering yogis in the area to show their Cleveland pride and join in yoga practice and community, Believe in CLE is hosting a fourth event on the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame plaza on June 27 at 6:30 p.m. The event will feature yoga, music and dancing. There will also be a fifth event held Friday, August 8 at The Mall located between E. 9th Street and W. 3rd Street. The Mall located above Cleveland’s Global Center for Health Innovation. This event is also at 6:30 p.m. Both events are free.
