Join Diane and Patrick DiPietro of Tintagel’s Gate for an intense outdoor ritual this Samhain night, complete with a blazing bonfire, the veil between the worlds, and communing with lost loved ones. The ritual circle will be followed by a potluck.
“We are going to the dark side. We are going to the veil between the living and the dead,” says Rev. Diane DiPietro. Samhain, the time when the veil is the thinnest, is traditionally an opportunity to contact those on the other side. At the DiPietros’ ritual, Rev. Patrick DiPietro will reach through the veil at the North gate of the circle and pull spirits to our side. Each participant can then commune with the spirit(s) of their loved ones in their own way, before the spirits are released at the end of the circle. These interactions are kept safe and private; no one has to know your conversation with your beloved dead unless you choose to share.
In the pagan tradition, “the dark side” does not in any way imply evil intentions. “Darkness to us means a time to turn within and ‘hibernate’ if you will, for the cold winter time. We use this time to reflect, learn, process, and plan the steps we wish to plant in the spring.” (http://www.witchvox.com/vn/vn_detail/dt_ev.html?a=usma&id=88768)
