Minnesota sports fans witnessed an event not seen in their home state for 29 years.
The Minnesota Vikings hosted the Chicago Bears at the TCF Bank Stadium on the campus of the University of Minnesota. With the collapse of the Metrodome and a home game in Detroit behind them, the Vikings did everything in their power to host the Monday Night Football matchup in the state of Minnesota.
With thousands of man hours to get the stadium ready and concerns by players on both benches, many questions arose as to the need to host the game at the "Bank". But as gametime neared and thousands of fans spilled into the stadium, the festive mood showed that the Minnesota sports fans wanted to celebrate the end of a long absence of outdoor football.
