Earlier today, anime publisher Sentai Filmworks announced that they have acquired the fantasy comedy series "Outbreak Company" for release in North America next year.
"Outbreak Company" features animation production by the animation studio Feel (Mayo Chiki!), it is based on the light novel series written by Ichiro Sakaki, with illustrations by Yugen. The 12-episode anime is directed by Kei Oikawa and features character designs by Takashi Mamezuka, series composition from Naruhisa Arakawa, sound direction by Takahiro Enomoto (Blessing of the Campanella) and music from Keiji Inai.
The series follows the story of Shinichi Kanou, the son of a novelist (father) and an illustrator of erotic video games (mother). Surrounded by creativity, Shinichi channels whatever talent he may have into the study of "moe", so much so that he is the world’s foremost expert on the subject. This knowledge leads to him being selected to serve as Japan’s ambassador for moe to the Holy Eldant Kingdom, a parallel world where dragons, elf maids and plenty of other anime otaku dreams are commonplace. It will be up to Shinichi to represent his country with pride, and try to control his urges with so much moe coming at him from all directions.
Sentai Filmworks will release "Outbreak Company" on home video in 2014, no official release date has been given. The series will also be available through select digital outlets soon.
In other Sentai Filmworks news, the publisher has also confirmed the acquisitions of "Phi-Brain: Puzzle of God" season three and "Beyond the Boundary". Both titles are expected for home video release in 2014.
