Outback Steakhouse bread recipe, Honey Wheat Bushman Bread

Outback Steakhouse Honey Wheat Bushman Bread

The only thing people usually remember about their meal at outback steakhouse is the Honey Wheat Bushman bread with butter, any memory of the rest of the scarringly large piles of protein and carbs are usually suppressed. Now you can make that delicious bread at home and enjoy it without the post traumatic stress effects of a blooming onion. (If you have a bread machine)

Ingredients:
1 1/2 cup water – warmed (you may also try 1 cup of water, and a half cup of evaporated milk for a richer taste)
2 tablespoons softened butter
1/2 cup of honey
2 cups of bread flour
2 cups of wheat flour
1 tablespoon of cocoa
1 tablespoon of sugar
2 teaspoons of instant coffee
1 teaspoon of salt
2 1/4 teaspoons of yeast
1 teaspoon of caramel color -- optional
3 tablespoons of cornmeal -- for dusting

What to do next:
Mix all the ingredients together inside of your bread machine on the “dough” setting. All the ingredients should create fairly sticky dough but this is normal. Unless the dough is unusually wet don’t add more flour. After the bread machine cycle is over let it rise for 1-1/2 hours. Then take it out and punch down. You can divide it into 8 small cylindrical shaped portions or 6 ape sized loaves, either way, make them about 2-3 inches wide. Then sprinkle those bad boys with some cornmeal and bake them at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Ingredients for this bread recipe were submitted by the lovely Cristina from New York, New York USA on cdkitchen.com.

How would you know what people remember from their visits to Outback. If this is what you remember, say so. Can the fake "I've seen it all; I know it all" attitude. You haven't; you don't.

Hey DaveM: your comments are not nice. Keep the nasty ones to yourself.

I'm with DaveM... What a rude and thoughtless thing to say. You are probably some old wannabe hipster foodie type that just loves to watch Top Chef and all the other reality crap on TV. I bet you go out to eat and try to show off how much you don't know about food by talking to a real working chef about something stupid and pointless you saw on Food Network or Bravo. Hell, I'll even bet you enjoyed Coolio's show on Bravo.

I had the waitress look at the box when I saw so many people putting coffee in their recipe. There is no coffee. There is molasses.

She's right, the original recipe doesn't include coffee, and it does not include cocoa. It does use molasses and rye flour, also Outback gets their bread frozen from a supplier. Regardless, this bread is a good recipe copycat :)
