There is no doubt that I love making money on eBay, but I also love to save money as well! I shop on eBay a little less than I sell on eBay, but I think its a great marketplace to buy the things you love at a great price.
One of my favorite things to do combines both buying and selling. Once a year I go through my closet and I list all of the clothes that I don’t love. I don’t list everything, but if I am not in love with the item, then it is going on eBay . Just like everyone, I have my favorite designers that I like to wear, so I usually have an idea on what I am going to make on all of my auctions. I then take the money that I am making on my old clothes and shoes, and use that towards a shopping spree on eBay! I buy my new wardrobe. Some of the items are new and some are used, but I only buy from sellers who offer a return policy. If the item doesn’t fit right or it doesn’t look like the picture, then I send it back for a full refund.
This idea also works great for growing kids as it is getting closer to the “back to school” season. It can be expensive to go and buy all new clothes for yourself or for your children, so why not use the eBay marketplace to get a great deal. If I do buy something at a retail store, I always look at it as 50% off. I know I will be able to at least recoup that money from eBay when I am ready to sell it again. My wife, Amy, also does this with her purses. She likes to buy Coach Handbags, but they can get a bit pricy. A couple times a year she will list her old handbag, and then go to the Coach Store on eBay to pick out another one.
Now we don’t always break even, but this gives us a great bulk of cash to buy what we really want. Have you ever done this before? If so, comment below and let us know what you traded!
