Out with the old and in with the...old?

As 2010 is officially dead and gone, we try and continue on with our lives dawning a new day with a new year, however can most actually say they are changing over a new leaf? Or are we just bettering the leaves we already have on our trees? Below are the 5 TOP things of my 2010, followed by the 5 TOP things I look forward to in 2011?! Also listed is the TOP 5 Politicos of 2010 and the TOP 5 news/media outlets of 2010. You do the comparison and find out?!

TOP 5 Giordano Gifts of 2010:

#5 - Could honestly be the afforable transition over to the 3.0 Android Sprint phone that I received as a present from my mother, Theresa Giordano, this past month (December). Having a very friendly young and beautiful Venezulean sales associate at the TowsonTowne mall kiosk on the third floor, I had a smooth transition for a very inexpensive upgrade price of...$50. That is right, only fifty-bucks landed me this smooth and sleek phone that really has improved my life's schedule, purpose and processes that much easier and commanded the room once I pulled it out for the first time! Certain Best Buy of the Year!

#4 - Would have to be my sales person and quick membership to Baltimore's Brick Bodies gym. Megan King, my membership counselor - who can be yours as well with a quick call, email or visit to the downtown location or contact her here - was very effeicient and helpful while the whole time explaining the services with such charm that it made me feel as though I was getting a work-out and a deal all at the same time! Gaining a membership for me and wifey for next to nothing, I have taken full advantage of the membership as I have been there everyday since! Thank you so much to Megan and the Brick Bodie's staff, including Victor and Lynne Brick and son!

#3 - This would have to go to my growing political and communications group/company known as GCOMM Media Co. this media group, independently owned and operated, is the controlling company for this Examiner page, along with the 2010-11 Elections Examiner page, as well as the State's (Md.) #1 political TV show the Reporters' Roundtable and its namesake radio broadcast! We have added services such as website and social media site(s) building for individuals, campaigns and companies who want to see their names branded and marketed well on the web, with our own new 4.0 networking abilities we have an edge on all the rest as we offer our websites as a social networking site of their own, allowing for your viewers to become users with their own usernames and passwords, allowing them to chat, message and more all on your own website, like Facebook! From the acquisitions of Loyola grad Senior Associate Victoria Kent, to DMD Experience founder, Senior Associate Monique Jones. We joined services with the nationwide political web-design powerhouse Moshe Technologies run by the infamous Moshe Starkman and just signed on as Senior Associate for Communications the multi-talented former Editor and Writer for the Afro and Baltimore Times Morning Sunday. Watch out for us in 2011, especially with the Baltimore City Mayoral/Council elections looming?!

#2 - Would be a close first place finisher, however with such tough competition she would have to settle for second in this race. My meeting and subsequent relationship with Ms. Victoria Kent has brought a new found sense of pride, loyalty and ambition to my life like never before! She has brought joy to my world, as well as my mother's and son's, thereby making her the catch of the year and crowning her my queen in 2010 and possible wife in 2011?

#1 - Is most definately my full fledged custody of my 4-year old son Malik Hassan Giordano. The apple of my eye, center of my universe and spitting image of his daddy, saw his mother pass in November 2009 thereby leaving me a single, use to be single, father who takes pride in raising his son yet has a new found respect for single mothers!

My TOP 5 choices for 2011 would have to be the following:

#5 - To see my clients, friends and associates win office in the Baltimore City Mayoral/Council elections!

#4 - To have my business and family prosper to a degree that we are comfortable, happy and thriving by year's end!

#3 - To ensure my son Malik progresses in the Clara Muhammad School on Park Heights Avenue, from Pre-K to Kindergarden!

#2 - To Insha'Allah see another birthday #35 on March 6, 2010 and see IMPAC and GCOMM Media become the successes they were destined to become!

#1 - To marry the love of my life, Victoria Kent, on the said date we have set which is my mental birth-date, the day I received my attribute Knowledge Born Self Supreme, on May 19th, 2011. Wish us well?!

TOP 5 Politicos of 2010:

#5 - Robert and Kendel Ehrlich - Though they did not win an office, as I was pushing for Kendel to be the Republican nominee for Governor in Maryland for 2010, they chose her husband 'Bobby' who could not overcome the negativity of his past adminsitration (2002-06) thereby having him lose BIG in 2010, by close to 14-points?!

#4 - Andy Harris, aka Congressman M.D. - The long-time 7th district Senator finally got over the Congressional hurdle in defeating his rematched opponent, Frank Kratovil. Winning decisively in 2010, as opposed to the narrow defeat in 2008, Harris may have landed his dream job, however probably setting up a Rocky-themed Part III between the two in 2012?!

#3 - Governor Martin O'Malley - The Irishman, rock band playing, little t-shirt wearing, City Judge marrying, former Mayor of Baltimore, has certainly landed a plum position not only as the next Governor for Maryland with another four year term, however his recent appointment to Chairman of the Democratic Governor's Association - all 3 of them?LOL? - will allow for him to gain favor across the country before taking over Barabara Mikulski's Senate seat in 2012-13 as he is reported to resign and Lt. Governor Anthony Brown takes over his role, then appointing Martin to the vacant Senate seat!???

#2 - Would go to both Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake and Baltimore City Council President Bernard C. 'Jack' Young. They both assumed positions of greatness this past February when Baltimore favorite and darling Sheila Dixon resigned after her theft conviction on December 1, 2009. Rawlings-Blake went from the youngest serving council member to the Mayor seemingly overnight, while the road for Young has been one paved with bumps and bruises, allowing for his appreciation of a tenured and storied 14-years of service. Though O'Malley and Rawlings-Blake did everything they could to see 11th district councilman William 'Bill' Cole as President, the unanimous decision by his colleagues proved that Young was the right man for the post! We shall see however if either can keep the positions come September of 2011?!

#1 - I know you may think I may say Angela Alsobrooks of PG County, or even a Rushern Baker, both becoming the counties State Prosecutor and County Executive, however they did NOT make #1. Neither did Greg Bernstein's storied and historic election over longtime Baltimore State's Attorney Pat Jessamy. Nope, the #1 politico of 2010 has to be Baltimore City's finest Mayor ever, or at least in the past decade...Sheila Dixon! The famed Dixon, whether you define her career as famous or infamous, she was certainly a beloved Mayor and civil servant that the average voter could connect with, a far cry from Martin O'Malley and even Stephanie Rawlings-Blake. The humbled mother of two was seemingly targeted and thrown out of office for things others have done since the beginning of politics, only because she pissed off the wrong people and had relations with some idiotic developers that turned state's evidence at the drop of a dime to save their own sorry a**.

TOP 5 News/Media Entities for 2010:

#5 - Though I hate them and cannot stand their left-leaning liberal spew and spin of the O'Malley machine of communications, the Baltimore Sun still drives most news outlets with their half-ass and sometimes copied articles of others people's content! They do have some good reporters over there, however they have the wrong people reporting as they have political beat reporters that have no clue as to the history, relationships or timeline of real politics in this City or State. Learn your trade before you begin reporting on it!!??

#4 - Though they certainly need some better articles, stories, writers and material, they do have one excellent staff writer over there by the name of Shernay Williams, the Afro newpapers are slowly becoming more relevant as they have been in the gutter for sometime now!

#3 - A toss-up between Investigative Voice and Maryland Reporter. I read both fairly regular, however tend to find more intriguing and original material at Len Lazarick's Md. Reporter on-line news entity! Though Stephan Janis and friends have certainly expanded rapidly and nicely since his departure from the print Baltimore Examiner and their closings years ago, Lazarick and company seem to have a drop on most statewide articles and happenings alomost daily!?

#2 - Would have to be given to my man's and them, Marc Steiner and Anthony McCarthy over there at WEAA 88.9FM. I had a problem at first with Marc taking over the airwaves of a traditionally black led station, however his service to the civil rights struggle and to Baltimore and all the surrounding communities and their issues has certainly given him a ghetto card/pass in my book! Upon leaving WYPR, which may have been the best thing he could have ever done, Steiner and McCarthy have taken great strides to bringing forth a very diverse audience of listeners and wide array of topics and guests. You gotta tune in to their broadcasts Monday - Friday 5-7P.

#1 - Though my man's and them did NOT make the Top 5 list this year - Doni Glover and Bmorenews along with Bobby Marvin and HueVoices - was only because I did NOT want people thinking I was being biased and unfair, yet know that I read them as frequently as I check on my own stuff, at least three times a day! Yet at #1 is certainly GCOMM Media entities, Examiner.com as well as Reporters' Roundtable TV/Radio. The Examiner sites started something this year NO ONE was doing throughout the entire country/world! We began videoing the written articles we were reporting on, thereby giving our viewers the option of viewing the video, reading the article or both?! This is now being picked up and duplicated by a few Baltimore news entities, however remember who started it and know that we shall always be on the cutting edge of bringing you new and innovative ideas and concepts to our reportings to you, because you are the most important part of what we do!
