Coming out on social media seems to be the latest trend, especially for younger celebrities. The latest to reveal his sexuality is Lucas Cruikshank, most known for his role as the very hyper character "Fred" in the Nickelodeon movie of the same name. According to TMZ on August 20, Cruikshank has revealed he's gay by posting his coming out video on YouTube.
Conveniently, the 19-year-old actor rose to popularity through YouTube, so what better way to share his sexuality than the social media site where he first gained his recognition. Cruikshank made the brief video with the help of his friend his Jennifer Veal, star of the Disney show "Jessie."
In the video he says, "I'm gay," and then follows that with "it feels so weird saying it on camera."
The young actor then says that his family and friends have known for three years and he felt it was the time to announce it on the internet.
Cruikshank is the fifth celebrity to come out as gay in the past few weeks. First, 'The Cosby Show' star Raven-Symone came out as a lesbian via Twitter, then British actor Ben Whishaw, followed by young Australian actor Troye Sivan, who also came out on YouTube. And just last week WWE Superstar Darren Young came out as gay in an interview with TMZ.
