For over ten years, Tractor Supply Company has been quietly offering a gem of a magazine for the community, absolutely free.
The quarterly magazine, which can be read online or picked up in stores, features articles on a wide variety of subjects such as:
- Arts and crafts
- Hobbies and collecting
- Pets and livestock
- Sustainable living
- Backyard birds
- Solar energy
- Frugal living
- Do-it-yourself projects
- And much more!
Past issues of Out Here include such diverse topics as a wood stove buying guide, storm spotting, therapy farm animals, living off-the-grid, winter stargazing, growing roses, horse rescue, raising honeybees in the face of sudden hive collapse syndrome, alternative heating, deer hunting, dividing perennials, raising cashmere goats, and fiber arts -- just to name a few.
You can view all of the issues for free online here. Note that some of the summaries are duplicates (all of the 2013 issues are listed with the topics from winter 2012) but you can click on the covers to see what they contain. The 2013 issues are not yet archived as an online magazine but can still be viewed on the web site.
This is a great resource with something for everyone and another great reason to shop our local stores.
