Out bisexual speedskater Ireen Wust won her third Sochi Olympic medal today, a silver, for the 1,500 meter. Her medal count for Sochi is now three: one gold and two silver. Not too shabby.

This morning's competition was a sweep for the Netherlands, with Jorien ter Mors capturing gold and Lotte van Beek the bronze.

Earlier in the Olympics, Wust took gold in the women's 3,000 meters with a time of 4:00.34, then silver, in the women's 1000 meters with a time of 1:14.69. Her time for the 1,500 was 1:54.09. Wust is 27 years old.

Her former girlfriend and speedskating teammate for the Netherlands, Sanne van Kerkhof, competed in the semi-final for the women's 3,000 meter relay but crashed into a wall. The Netherlands team was penalized and didn't make it to the finals. I haven't been able to find the cause of the penalty but touching another skater during a race is usually the reason.

Wust is expected to compete in the Speed Skating Ladies' Team Pursuit: quarter finals are on Feb 21, semi-finals and the final are on Feb 22.
