Our Xbox 720 wish list

The Consumer Electronic Show (CES) has started today and we are expecting a lot of game changing hardware to be displayed at the conventions. What will be missing is the introduction of the highly anticipated Xbox 720 or what is known as Durango in some circles. Whatever the name of the system is going to be it does not matter because we will be first waiting in line at our local retailer trying to get our hands on one.

The release of Halo 4 on the Xbox 360 has renewed interest in the aging console but with the introduction of the Nintendo Wii U and Sony rumored to be developing their next generation console the time is right for the Xbox 720 to be released this year. If you check the internet you will see so many rumors on the specifications of what the hardware capabilities would be. The thing is that no one knows for sure what the Xbox 720 would like and what their capabilities would be except for Microsoft and their partners.

What we would like to see out of the new Xbox 720 is a shift from DVD discs to cloud computing games. Technology has now reduced the need to have physical discs as storage device to hold the contents of video games. The long storage times associated with loading a disc to memory, and scratches on the video game disc making the game unplayable. We are now shifting toward a new age in which digital assets are becoming the norm. This revolution has been facilitated by Apple, Roku, Netflix, Amazon, PlayStation store, and Xbox Live to name a few of the innovators.

The processing power of the Xbox 720 should be the best on the market. The system is focused on delivering realistic graphics that are life like and should signify that this is truly a next generation console. The design of the system should be innovative, stylish, and does not take a lot of space versus the original introduction of the massive Xbox.

We expect the Xbox 720 to be the center of the living room that will continue to expand on the different type of entertainment services provided to consumers other than video games. The Xbox 360 started this trend when it first came out and we are excited to see what the Xbox 720 service capabilities will be. We all are waiting on when Microsoft will make their announcement which is expected to be later this year. We know with exclusive products such as Halo and Gears of War for Microsoft that the system will be an instant best seller.
