Yes, our sun is a source of life for biological life on planet Earth. Without this source of light and heat, life on Earth would not exist. The light from the sun is used by green plants for photosynthesis. But this same light from the sun has harmful radiation too, which could be death to life on planet earth.
Our sun is a medium size yellow star that is about 93 million miles from Earth, which is the right distance for life on Earth to be prolific. Our optimum distance from the sun allows water to exist in three forms: vapor, to help warm the Earth; liquid and ice, to supply the hydrological cycle. Earth's average annual temperature of 53 degrees Fahrenheit is closely maintained by the great reservoir of heat in the oceans.
Our sun is a mighty nuclear engine, giving off more energy each second that mankind has produced since creation. Its fuel tank of nuclear fuel is still full. But this nuclear emissions from our sun can be a source of death, to life on planet Earth. If the earth would somehow lose its magnetic field, the radiation from the sun would be a death null for biological life on the surface of Earth. Our sun produces an abundant amount of ultraviolet radiation. This energetic form of light can cause eye cataracts, melanomas (skin cancer) and also damage to vegetation. Our sun also produces x-rays that would be deadly if they reach the surface of the Earth.
There are people who believe the sun will one day produce a solar flare that will cause a disaster on Earth that will bring mankind to its knees. This event is called the "Killshot"! ('Killshot : Approaching The Moment', by Major Ed Dames (U.S. Army Ret.).
According to the Bible our sun will scorch the Earth with great heat during what is called the Great Tribulation (Revelation 16 : 8-9). This could be the massive solar flare which will bring mankind to its knees. but man will still not repent but blaspheme the name of God. "And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire. And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory" (Revelation 16:8-9)(KJV).
The One who created the sun, the Lord Jesus Christ is the One, who I have put my trust in and give Him the glory. Amen! There is an interesting Scripture in Malachi 4:2, that talks about "the Sun of righteousness" who is the Son of God, the Lord Jesus Christ. "But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall."
