Our Genealogy Group at Clayton State University announces our annual workshop for beginners. The free workshop will be held Saturday, March 8, 2014. Registration and check in will start at 8:30 a.m. The welcome with class schedules will be delivered at 9:00 a.m. Classes will meet from 9:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. The afternoon will include research and problem solving until 4:00 p.m.

The classes will include:

  • Dating Photographs Using Hats and Hair presented by Angela Pendleton
  • Using the Census presented by Selma Blackmon and Vicki Evans
  • Breaking Through Brick Walls presented by Trish Fields
  • Genealogy Databases at Clayton State University presented by Rosemary Fischer

This is a workshop! Bring something to work on! Bring your research notes, papers, questions and laptop. The school is equipped with wifi access. If you have specific genealogical questions, please send them with your RSVP. We will have volunteers available to talk with you about your challenges. We will offer research suggestions. You may find the answers.

The workshop will be held in the Baker University Center, Room 265, Clayton State University, 2000 Clayton State Blvd, Morrow, GA 30260. For directions and maps see the CSU website.

Jazzman’s Café will be open. Jazzman’s Café is located adjacent to the Library and offers a variety of coffees, coffee drinks, teas, smoothies, sandwiches, salads, soft drinks, water and pastries. Breakfast and lunch items will be available. Jazzman’s Café accepts all credit and debit cards and cash, but no bills over $20.

Our Genealogy Group (OGG) members will be wearing name badges. Our badges include the name of genealogical software. If you have software questions on programs such as Roots Magic, Legacy, My Heritage, or Family Tree Maker, ask a member.

The workshop is free, but RSVP is a must. Handouts and a campus map will be emailed to those who RSVP. Print them out and bring them. No handouts will be available at the door. Email your genealogical questions with your RSVP.
