Our endless romance

I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul will exult in my God; for He has clothed me with the garments of salvation, He has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself with a garland, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. (Isaiah 61:10 AMP)

A girl longs for her wedding day here on earth. She longs to be adorned with jewels and her beautiful white dress. She waits for the day her boyfriend becomes her fiancee, then becomes her groom.A few of us don't have the joy of that day. We wait but no one gives us away or sings or dances at our special celebration.

Joni Earickson Tada is a quadriplegic who did have a wedding day. She's a gracious lady who loves Jesus, paints beautiful art with her mouth and has a network of physically challenged people that love her. Even though she celebrated her marriage day and is happily married to a wonderful man there's someone else she wants to be her Groom. These are the words to a little chorus she wrote:

For I'm Christ the Savior’s own bride

and redeemed I shall stand by His side.

He will say shall we dance

and our endless romance

will be worth all the tears I have cried. Joni Earickson Tada

We may not have been through anything like Joni. Most of us have had the use of our legs and arms all our lives. But we've shed tears. And we've known pain. Not to compare pains but just to take from the joy of her chorus we long for our Savior to say "shall we dance?" We long for an endless romance made in heaven. And we long to forget the tears He will gently wipe away.
