The animals in our lives can not only cause us great joy but also they can heal us on many different levels. Think about how after a long and stressful day, just walking into the house and being greeted by your dog can immediately begin to relax you. There is a growing participation and need for animals to be used in Animal Therapy programs. They are using dogs, cats, rabbits, horses, and even llamas in these programs to help bring about healing in the people who that visit.
How do animals affect us and heal us:
they help lower blood pressure
gets us physically moving
shortens recovery time from injuries
helps to curb depression and anxiety
helps to open lines of communication
increase survival rate after heart attacks
gives us a heightened quality of life
If you don't have an animal in your life and can make a life long commitment, then do so. If you can't make that type of commitment then volunteer to help animals in some way. Give back the love that they so freely give to us.
