Otis McDonald, whose successful challenge of Chicago's draconian handgun ban has led to the Supreme Court's recognition of the Second Amendment as protecting the right to keep and bear arms from infringement by all levels of government, including state and local governments, has endorsed Illinois State Senator Bill Brady for governor. If the video to the left doesn't work, click here.
His choice--despite being "a life-long Democrat," is perhaps not surprising. Senator Brady has stated his support for ending the state's denial of the right to carry a defensive handgun, as quoted here in the Springfield State Journal-Register:
“I have said that I support laws which fully embrace Second Amendment rights,” Brady said. “In the case of concealed carry, many states have proven that with the right training, background checks and implementation, it works well.”
Clearly, much work needs to be done to educate Senator Brady about Constitutional carry, and the meaning of shall not be infringed, but his opponent has made clear that no amount of education will help. Quinn. when asked this summer about his position on defensive handgun carry, had this to say (from SuburbanLife.com):
Guns/concealed carry: Opposes and would veto a bill that allows people to carry concealed guns if it reaches his desk. “I believe in common-sense restrictions on weapons.”
"Common-sense restrictions," being, of course, any restrictions that such extremists think they have the power to pull off. Quinn, in fact, is endorsed by the forcible citizen disarmament extremists of the Brady Campaign (no relation to Senator Brady).
“In less than two years on the job, Governor Quinn has already taken strong stances on preventing gun violence in Illinois and he supports legislation to make it harder for dangerous people to get dangerous weapons,” said Paul Helmke, President of the Brady Campaign. “We want the people of Illinois to know that there is a clear choice in this election - a choice between a Governor who wants to fight the gun violence problems that have caused so much suffering in the state and a challenger who has voted consistently with the gun lobby.”
And don't forget, that just as Governor Quinn wants Illinois citizens disarmed while out in public, he continues to release dangerous, violent felons early--and continues to claim otherwise.
Mr. McDonald is one of many in Chicago's African-American community who resent Illinois' policies of mandated defenselessness. In a closely-fought election, any inroads a Republican candidate can make, into a demographic that Democrats have long considered reliably theirs, is potentially important.
The people of Illinois are waking up to the evils of forcible citizen disarmament and mandated defenselessness. It is long past time that those who seek to represent them wake up, as well.

Hello Kurt!
A couple of years ago Senator Brady introduced a bill that would REPEAL the FOID card.
The FOID card was born in a time of social unrest to be used as a tool to disarm Blacks in the State and those that may come into the State and engage in race riots.
We need to demand that Brady once elected Governor stands his ground on the 2A and that someone introduces legislation in the General Assembly to REPEAL the FOID card
The FOID has go to go!
Anti-2nd Amendment politicians must go.
