With just over 2 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, Osseo's junior kicker Elliot Kane, hit a 34-yard field goal to defeat Prior Lake 17-14. Kane had missed two first half field goal attempts, but hit on his final chance to send the Orioles to the state tournament for the first time in 19 years.
With the game tied 14-14, the Orioles recovered a Laker fumble on the 3-yard line. Osseo drove to Prior Lake's 18-yard line before two penalties stalled the drive. The Lakers attempted their own late game heroics driving to within field goal range, but came up short to seal the Oriole victory.
The Orioles play Totino Grace on Friday, November 8th at 8 p.m at the Metrodome in the quarter finals.
