Oscars: host Seth MacFarlane featured in new promo

ABC has started to air promos for the Oscars Ceremony to be held live Sunday, February 24th. Host and first time Oscar nominee Seth MacFarlane, announced the nominees earlier this week along side of actress Emma Stone.

The "Ted" writer was nominated for Achievement in music written for motion picture (Original song), "Everybody Needs A Best Friend" from "Ted" (Universal) Music by Walter Murphy Lyric MacFarlane

Other nominees in the category were:

"Before My Time" from "Chasing Ice" (Submarine Deluxe) Music and Lyric by J. Ralph

"Pi's Lullaby" from "Life of Pi" (20th Century Fox) Music by Mychael Danna Lyric by Bombay Jayashri

"Skyfall" from "Skyfall" (Sony Pictures Releasing and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer) Music and Lyric by Adele Adkins and Paul Epworth

"Suddenly" from "Les Misérables" (Universal) Music by Claude-Michel Schönberg Lyric by Herbert Kretzmer and Alain Boublil

MacFarlane never envisioned hosting the show. "That’s one thing I never thought would happen. This was in every way a complete surprise," he said to reporters an the nominations press conference. "I didn't know I was being discussed. I didn't know that my name had come up. It came out of the blue and it was -- it made it that much more of a joy.

There's no word if MacFarlane will perform during the telecast.

"You know, that is in the hands of our illustrious producers, MarFarlane said. "If [Ted's] performed as a featured song than a movie, that would be a more appropriate performance."

"Ted," released in 2012, is an American comedy film, directed, co-produced, co-written, and starring Seth MacFarlane alongside Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis in leading roles. In "Ted," as the result of a childhood wish, John Bennett's teddy bear, Ted, came to life and has been by John's side ever since - a friendship that's tested when Lori, John's girlfriend of four years, wants more from their relationship.

The 85th Annual Academy Awards airs Sunday, February 24, 2013 on ABC.
