All eyes of the world are on California this weekend for the 2013 Academy Awards. Preparations are well underway in Hollywood. Hollywood Boulevard is shut down in front of the Dolby Theater as LA gets ready for its big closeup.
Here in San Francisco the big party is the Academy of Friends event that benefits HIV/AIDS charities The Academy of Friends is in its 33rd year. The party will feature big screen TV's throughout so attendees can watch in style. Palm Springs's Trio Restaurant will also host an Academy Awards party that will benefit HIV/AIDS charities.
If you can't make it to Hollywood or to one of the Academy Awards parties on Sunday, of course, you can watch the show on TV. The 2013 Academy Awards (AKA The Oscars) airs locally on the ABC station, KGO-TV, Channel 7.
On the Road to the Red Carpet
From 1:30- 4 p.m. PST the station airs "On the Red Carpet at the Oscars" "Hosts talk with some of Hollywood's biggest stars and celebrities, including actors and directors, as they walk the red carpet prior to the awards show."

No, last year there was a $29.99 pay per view service, but this year nothing. Usually, bootleg sites pop up providing illegal streams. They stay active until they get shut down.

But once again, the best way to watch the 2013 Academy Awards is free in your living room. The Oscars show will air around the country on ABC stations starting at 5:30 p.m. PST or 8:30 p.m. EST. Check your local listings for the ABC channel in your area. Unlike the Grammys, the Oscars are broadcast live, not tape-delayed in all time zones.
