True Grit's Hailee Steinfeld, Academy Award nominee for Best Supporting Actress, sparkled on her first Oscar red carpet walk. Other celebrities arriving for the 83rd Annual Academy Awards included nominees Natalie Portman, Nicole Kidman, Jesse Eisenberg, Amy Adams, and Colin Firth.
The 14-year-old Steinfeld told Ryan Seacrest she helped design her own Marchesa gown. She is one of ten nominations for the Coen Brothers' True Grit, based on Arkansas author Charles Portis' novel of the same name.
When asked about her quick rise to fame, Steinfeld said, "I try not to analyze it too much because it freaks me out...I'm so blessed to be in this position."
Steinfeld is competing against front-runner Melissa Leo for The Fighter, Amy Adams for The Fighter, Helena Bonham Carter for The King's Speech, and Jacki Weaver for Animal Kingdom.
