There may be a few people Monday who are talking about "The Hurt Locker" winning Best Picture at the 2010 Oscars -- the rest of us are still talking about the fashion. Namely, what in the world was going on with Charlize Theron's dress? Most of the talk so far since the awards has been about the placement of a few certain roses on the John Galliano gown.
Even if the majority of fashion critics around the country currently despise the look (E! Online went as far as to say that it was "going down in the history books along with the swan dresses and pirate costumes"), Charlize is standing by her dress. When asked by Us Magazine about it on the red carpet, she merely had this to say: "I just loved this dress."
At least the former Oscar winner is keeping a positive attitude about it thus far, since many entertainment shows Monday night will probably have her as the center of attention for all of the wrong reasons.

I think it's a beautiful dress. Yes, it does draw attention to her chest, but in an elegant way. I love the dress, stand by it Charlize!
I loved charlize rheron's dress only John Galliano can design something so cool and the only movie star in the business that can pull off this gown is Charlize!! hands down. so people who really do not know high fashion or can not wear it don't be hater, just adore it and wish you can wear it!Larissa@larissalovecosmetics.com
I love the dress!!! only John Galliano can design something so different and only one person in the movie industry can pull it off and that is Charlize!! only in the US that people do not know the meaning of real high fashion. gorgeous charlize!!!
most of the dresses at the awards last night were hideous including charlize's. too much tutus, prom looks and zoe's looked like big bird and barney mated.
Sorry, Charlize, but they look like bulls-eyes, proclaiming "Aim here!" I wait each year to see the Oscars fashions and am always surprised by how many stars dress in styles that do not enhance their body, and that are unattractive and, bluntly, in some cases hideous. Charlize's doesn't fall into the latter category, but could be better; it looked great from the side, and if the pale lilac strip had gone across her chest in a solid band instead of two rosettes it'd have been a LOVELY dress, instead of a "What's up with THAT?!?!" choice.
I agree with Larissa, this dress is gorgeous! I would have used the same color train but in a more light weight fabric because the train just isn't flowing well. I just love the roses at the bust in the contrast color, it is fresh and never been done before. Hail to the legendary designer John Galliano. He has done it again!
Love the dress. Charlize always takes a fashion risk and is ahead of the pack when it comes to trend spotting.
I loved the dress. One of the favorites for the whole evening. She has impeccable taste and and the dress shows her personality and flare.
absolutely beautiful dress! Perfectly placed color of purples
Hideous! I still can't believe she wore that, she's always been so perfectly dressed! Oh well, we all make mistakes.. too bad hers was on the Oscars night! lol
When I look at that dress, I think "boobies"
What were you thinking?
I really love this dress. Definitely my favorite of the night. A lot of the dresses were too safe, too prommy (JLO) or not appropriate for the event (Miley). I thought Charlize's dress was sumptuous, glamorous, and the most stunning color on her. And yeah, so there were flowers on her breasts- there's no rule saying an elegant dress can't also have humor to it. The only thing I would change would be for a deep berry-shaded lip, I thought her red-orange clashed.
What's the big deal, it's just a dress!
Beautiful dress! Gorgeous color! Pretty woman! There's nothing wrong with this dress at all. Take a chill pill guys and relax! I have seen worse...
EEWWWWWW! i mean, seriously? roses on the boobies? cmon, dudes. what w/ that?
what kind of explaining does she have to do? she has boobs and everyone knows it. what is wrong with some nice purlple roses to prove it! what year is this? 1950?
Got something to say?
