Oscar winners and nominees on the red carpet (Photos)

Oscars were presented at the 85th Academy Awards held in Hollywood on Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, and televised live on ABC Television Network. Oscar nominees paraded on the famed red carpet in couture finery, as they anticipated the presentation of the coveted statues and the high honor from the Academy. Attached are pictures of the movie stars as they arrived at the Oscars.

The big win of the night, Best Motion Picture, went to Ben Affleck's "Argo." The award was accepted onstage by producer Grant Heslov (R), producer George Clooney, and actor/director Ben Affleck. The Oscar for Best Motion Picture was presented by Jack Nicholson and First Lady Michelle Obama, who appeared via satellite from the White House. The Best Motion Picture nominees included "Django Unchained," "Life of Pi," "Zero Dark Thirty," "Lincoln," "Silver Linings Playbook," "Les Miserables," "Amour" and "Beasts of the Southern Wild."

Actor Daniel Day-Lewis won the Best Actor award for his portrayal of Abraham Lincoln in "Lincoln." Nominees for the honor included Hugh Jackman ("Les Miserables"), Denzel Washington ("Flight"), Joaquin Phoenix ("The Master") and Bradley Cooper ("Silver Linings Playbook").

Actress Jennifer Lawrence won the Best Actress award for her lead role in "Silver Linings Playbook." Best actress nominees included Jessica Chastain ("Zero Dark Thirty"), Quvenzhane Wallis ("Beasts of the Southern Wild"), Naomi Watts ("The Impossible") and young Emmanuelle Riva ("Amour").

Actor Christoph Waltz won the Best Supporting Actor award for his role in "Django Unchained." Best Supporting Actor nominees included Robert De Niro ("Silver Linings Playbook"), Philip Seymour Hoffman ("The Master"), Tommy Lee Jones ("Lincoln") and Alan Arkin ("Argo").

Actress Anne Hathaway won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her portrayal of prostitute Fantine in "Les Miserables." Best Supporting Actress nominees included Sally Field ("Lincoln"), Amy Adams ("The Master"), Helen Hunt ("The Sessions") and Jacki Weaver ("Silver Linings Playbook").

Director Ang Lee won the Best Director Oscar for "Life of Pi." The Best Director nominees included Steven Spielberg ("Lincoln"), David O. Russell ("Silver Linings Playbook"), Michael Haneke ("Amour") and Benh Zeitlin ("Beasts of the Southern Wild").
