Oscar winners 2013: 'Argo' wins Best Picture: Beats out 'Lincoln'

Oscar winners of 2013 include the movie 'Argo' that won Best Picture at the 85th Academy Awards held on Feb. 24, 2013 on ABC. Although the early awards buzz for "Lincoln" was promising for the film, it failed to win as many awards as predicted.

Ben Affleck, the film's director, grew emotional during the acceptance speech. "It doesn't matter how you get knocked down in life, 'cause that's gonna happen. All that matters is that you gotta get up."

Grant Heslov, Ben Affleck, and George Clooney produced "Argo." Grant Heslov joked, "I know what you're thinking, the three sexiest producers alive."

The 2012 film, where Ben Affleck, Alan Arkin and John Goodman are actors, also won for Best Motion Picture - Drama at the Golden Globes. It is based on the true story of CIA operative Tony Mendez, played by Affleck, who helped to rescue U.S. diplomats from Tehran, Iran, during the 1979 Iran hostage crisis.

Affleck was snubbed for a Best Director nominee at the Oscars this year. However, he won for Best Director at the Golden Globes.
