Olympian Oscar Pistorius was arrested back in 2009 for assaulting a woman before he allegedly killed his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, early on Valentine's Day, a report claimed Thursday, Feb. 14.
Sources in South Africa, where Oscar resides, told TMZ that the famous athlete had been arrested in 2009 after assaulting a female pal, landing him in jail for 24 hours. However, the supposed victim dropped all charges against the double-amputee olympic hero.
Currently, Oscar is in custody near the Pretoria, South Africa, prison, where he has just been charged with murder, People magazine reported.
According to police in the town of Boschkop, where the 2009 incident took place, Oscar had no prior domestic violence incidents with Reeva in which the police had been called. But, conflicting reports from People reveal that there had indeed been "previous incidents" at Oscar's home relating to Reeva.
"Yes, there are witnesses, and there have also been interviews this morning," Police spokeswoman Denise Beukes told reporters today, "We are talking about neighbors and people that heard things that happened earlier in the evening and when the shooting took place."
Meanwhile, earlier reports from CNN said that the whole incident was an accident, claiming that Reeva was planing a Valentine's Day surprise for Oscar, but things went horribly wrong. Other reports initially suggested that Oscar mistook Reeva for a home intruder, although those assumptions were later ruled out and officials officially charged Oscar with murder.
The 30-year-old model was shot in the head and hand four times in Oscar's home, and pronounced dead shortly after.
