ABC will air a special edition of "20/20" focuses exclusively on South African Olympian Oscar Pistorious and the murder charges against him, the network confirmed Wednesday in a statement. "The Fast Times of Oscar Pistorius" will take an in-depth look at the so-called "Blade Runner" who captured the world's attention on the Olympic stage in London and then fell from the pedestal just six months later when he shot his girlfriend to death on Valentine's Day.
But was the shooting death of Reeva Steenkamp accidental or was it cold-blooded murder? That's what "20/20" will attempt to answer for viewers during the March 1 Oscar Pistorius special that will air from 10-11 p.m. "20/20 travels to South Africa to dig deeper into the investigation," the network confirms in a statement. "ABC News Correspondent Amy Robach speaks with those who know Pistorius best -- including exclusive interviews with Dr. Gerry Versfeld, a long-time family friend and the doctor who amputated Pistorius' legs; and Keven Lerena, a friend of both Pistorius and Steenkamp who says he was present when Pistorius accidentally shot his pistol in a previous incident."
Steenkamp's former boyfriend and her roommate also sat down for interviews for the hour-long television event. "20/20" producers will also attempt to recreate Pistorius' bedroom and bathroom "for an inside look at what investigators - and the defense team -- say might have happened that fateful night."
20/20's "The Fast Times of Oscar Pistorius" airs Friday, March 1 at 10 p.m.
