Oscar parties in Chicago and Las Vegas you shouldn't miss (Photos)

Sherry Yard, executive pastry chef of Wolfgang Puck's dining group, has already prepared the gold-dusted chocolate Oscars for the weekend festivities. Restaurants around the country have also begun prepping for their own parties. For instance, let Hollywood have their red carpet, in Chicago it's an orange-carpet Oscar Party. At Nellcôte. In Las Vegas, it's an Oscar-sanctioned night of celebrity watching, humanitarian award ceremony, Oscar watching and a post-Oscar party that will rival anything in Hollywood.

In Chicago, on Feb. 24th Kelly Ryan O'Brien and the Chicago Blogger Network are hosting an orange-carpet Oscar Party at Nellcôte (matched up with the restaurant's interior). O'Brien will host play-by-play tweeting so guests can be winners along with the movie stars (hashtag #NellcoteCBN). A photo booth will capture all the glamour do's and don'ts and viewing screens will broadcast paparazzi-style photos of the best and worst Oscar attire. Swag bags will be given away for the first 200 attendees.

Jared Van Camp's dinner menu will be in the main dining room and Oscar-themed cocktails by Moët & Chandon, Hennessy and Belvedere will be available throughout the evening. Guests who RSVP in advance for the event at Oscars@nellcoterestaurant.com, will receive two complimentary cocktail tickets as a special pre-event perk, valid from 5-7pm. For more information: www.nellcoterestaurant.com or call 312.432.0500.

In Las Vegas, the Oscar Experience (Oscar-sanctioned) will begin with a celebrity red-carpet event, followed by an award ceremony for comedian/magician Mac King for his childhood literacy work. The red-carpet event will be hosted by Chet Buchanan, host of “The Morning Zoo” (KLUC-FM) and Dao Vu, co-host of “The Morning Blend” (KTNV-TV). Guests can watch the Oscar ceremony at the Brenden Theatres at The Palms Casino Resort Oscar, followed by a post-Oscar Party in the Ghostbar at the Palms. As for at-home Oscar parties, Epicurious has designed menus with recipes that match Oscar nominees. For instance, American meets Canadian, meets Persian menu includes "fried chicken, maple sugar pie, and Persian rice. The Mai Tai is for the film's Trader Vic reference, while our peanut-studded dessert is a tribute to Carter's time as a peanut farmer," according to the website. Link here for recipes.

For recipes from the Oscar-party master, Wolfgang Puck shares recipes on the Oprah network from previous Oscar parties. Link here for recipes.
