Oscar Predictions? It's hard to say anything with confidence after last year's unexpected turn of events in the foreign language category. As some of you may recall, the Japanese film Departures shocked many by winning the Oscar, beating out the heavily favored Waltz with Bashir and The Class. However, Michael Haneke's The White Ribbon has done well at festivals and with critics and the French film A Prophet has been well received. The White Ribbon also won the foreign language Golden Globe. Though this is not an assurance of Oscar gold, The White Ribbon still seems like the best bet for Oscar night. The awards ceremony airs March 7.
