TV viewers saw the Oscar nominations 2013 announced on ABC's "Good Morning America." Seth McFarlane and actress Emma Stone were on hand Thursday morning to reveal everyone's highly-awaited list, with plenty of comedic interjections along the way.
Everyone is always interested in the big name categories so here they are, as revealed and reported by 'Good Morning America' and their website Jan. 10. The Best Picture category will feature a battle of nine nominees with "Beasts of the Southern Wild," "Silver Linings Playbook," "Zero Dark Thirty," "Lincoln," "Les Miserables," "Life of Pi," "Amour," "Django Unchained," and "Argo."
Best Actor nominees in 2013 will include Daniel Day Lewis for "Lincoln," Denzel Washington for "Flight," Hugh Jackman for "Les Miserables," Bradley Cooper for "Silver Linings Playbook," and Joaquin Phoenix in "The Master."
Best performance by an Actress in a lead role include Jessica Chastain for "Zero Dark Thirty," Naomi Watts in "The Impossible," Jennifer Lawrence in "Silver Linings Playbook," Emannuele Riva in "Amoure," and the youngest-ever Oscar nominee in history, 9-year-old Quvenzhane Wallis in "The Beasts of the Southern Wild."
Best Supporting Actor nominees include Christoph Waltz, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Robert DeNiro, Alan Arkin, and Tommy Lee Jones, all of whom have won an Oscar award before. Best actress in a supporting role nominees included Sally Field, Anne Hathaway, Jacki Weaver, Helen Hunt and Amy Adams.
The Best Director category features Steven Spielberg for "Lincoln," Ang Lee for "Life of Pi," David O. Russell for "Silver Linings Playbook," Benh Zeitlin for "Beasts of the Southern Wild," and Michael Haneke for "Amour." McFarlane quipped after the announcement, "These are five people who are the very best at sitting in a chair watching other people make a movie."
Get your chairs ready to watch other people present this year's winners with their shiny awards. The 85th Academy Awards will be shown on ABC on Sunday, Feb. 24 starting at 7 p.m. EST.
