Oscar Night did not disappoint

On Sunday March 2, 2014 the Academy Awards presented some of the shining stars from the films of 2013 and the show itself did not disappoint viewers. From the wonderful and incredibly funny Ellen DeGeneres hosting the show and purchasing pizza for the audience members to the musical performances of the night and winners of the categories.

Winners, Matthew McConaughey (Best Actor) Jarred Leto (Best Supporting Actor) backstage at the 86th Annual Academy Awards.

A few wonderful speeches from top winners Matthew McConaughey for Best Actor, Jarred Leto for Best Supporting Actor and Lupita Nyong'o for Best Supporting Actress expressed gratitude for their profession and career. Musical performances from Pink for the 75th anniversary of the ‘Wizard of Oz’ and Bette Midler performing ‘Wind Beneath my Wings’ after the Memoriam portion of the show were outstanding. Idina Menzel performed a beautiful rendition of her hit song ‘Let it Go’ from the Best Animated film ‘Frozen’, even after John Travolta managed her name in the introduction.

Ellen DeGeneres got great laughs from her selfies with the stars and had the most retweets for the group photo in the audience. Hopefully the organizers of the Oscars will invite Ellen back again next year as host because she was a class act.
