Ever wonder what’s inside the celebrated Oscar gift bags? Julie Chang from "Good Day LA" visited Kari Feinstein’s Pre-Academy Award Style Lounge on Thursday and got a sneak peek into what’s offered at the Oscar Gift Lounges, which included RCM gel nail polish to create Academy Award-winning nail art.
From February 27 through 28 the Kari Feinstein's Style Lounge played host for a Pre-Academy Awards gifting event. Some of the beauty products included in this year’s Oscar gift bags are anti-aging creams from Modere and Red Carpet Manicure, the at-home gel manicure system repeatedly written about by the Long Island Beauty Lookbook Examiner.
This is Kari Feinstein’s twelfth year and 2014 brings approximately 18 to 20 vendors in her Oscar Gift Lounge. According to a representative from Modere, the vendors compete to give away products, from fashion and beauty to accessories and pet products to celebrities, and Kari is very selective in whom she chooses to participate in her Oscars Style Lounge.
This year, Long Island-based RCM honored the best films of the year for the 2014 Academy Awards and Red Carpet Manicure along with celebrity manicurist, Christina Aviles, collaborated to create nine custom nail designs, called “The Contenders”. The looks were revealed at the Kari Feinstein Pre-Academy Award Style Lounge in West Hollywood on February 27 and 28; to give nominees and presenters the chance to let their fingers cast their ballot as to which film is most favored this season. According to Aviles, nail artistry and acting are quite similar.
Nail art, much like acting, is a form of self-expression. You can polish your nails with a solid color to match your outfit for a refined look or add decals, graphics or symbols to give it another dimension and deeper story.
All nine custom Oscar-worthy looks, (three can be viewed in the slideshow) were fashioned from the nail brand’s recently launched Dazzling Gems collection of real gem-infused LED gel polishes. The step-by-step tutorials to re-create these looks should be revealed on Facebook this weekend, just in time for the Academy Award celebrations.
Bruce Kowalsky, Managing Partner of Red Carpet Manicure explained in a recent press release how thrilled he is to bring RCM to those who’ll walk Oscar’s red carpet as well as fans of nail art and the movies.
In just a few weeks, all eyes will be on Los Angeles as the city hosts the preeminent red carpet event of the season. It is truly an honor for Red Carpet Manicure to join the party, not only by giving Hollywood’s elite, a polish as unforgettable as their gowns and outfits, but by giving film fans the opportunity to deck their hands in matching styles.
The 2014 Academy Awards air Sunday night at 7 p.m. on ABC. Which style nail art do you plan to wear for your Oscar’s party?
