Orzhov Keyrune is one of the newest "Magic: The Gathering" cards spoiled today Jan. 15, 2013 from Wizards of the Coast's upcoming expert expansion set "Gatecrash." Revealed in the card image gallery at www.MagicTheGathering.com, Orzhov Keyrune can potentially unlock the power of Extort based decks.
Orzhov Keyrune - 3
Artifact (Uncommon)
Tap: Ad W or B to your mana pool.
WB: Orzhov Keyrune becomes a 1/4 white and black Thrull artifact creature with lifelink until end of turn.
You only need to wield it once to appreciate the power of control.
Orzhov Keyrune is part of five card uncommon artifact cycle that each adds a mana from their corresponding guild and has an activated ability which transforms them into an artifact creature until end of turn. In Orzhov Keyrune's case, you'll get a 1/4 white and black Thrull artifact creature with lifelink.
Orzhov Keyrune can play a pivotal role in a controlling Extort deck. It makes an excellent third turn drop after a second turn Blind Obedience, allowing you to ramp into a fourth turn Obzedat, Ghost Council. Because Extort decks contain so much life gain, Rhox Faithmender is starting to look much more attractive option for Orzhov players.
Orzhov Keyrune's large toughness of four will help it stave off an opponent's early threats like Dreg Mangler or Boros Elite, buying you time and life in the process until you can cast a board sweeper like Mutilate or Terminus.
Even if an opponent manages to destroy it, Treasury Thrull will bring your Orzhov Keyrune back to your hand and allow you to continously grind your adversary to zero.
How will you use Orzhov Keyrune?
