Orvis Reno to host free fly fishing classes (Photos)

Looking for a new hobby or adventure sport where you can get your family and young ones away from video games and out in the great outdoors? Well, how about fly fishing. You kids will learn something new and have a lot of fun. If you are close to retiring, its a great active sport and you'll meet a lot of great people. Maybe you've seen it done and wanted to give it a try. Whatever the reason, the Reno Orvis can help as the company is offering a series of Free classes in April, May and June.

Orvis' FF101 class is the perfect event to get started. Fly fishing is a sport the whole family can participate in and all ages are welcome to attend the event. Keep in mind, those under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Bring the whole family and learn what this great sport is all about.

Now is your chance to learn fly fishing basics in one of our free fly fishing 101 classes. Free fishing lessons on fly casting and outfit rigging. FF101. Classes run Saturdays and Sundays:

  • May 4-5
  • May 18-19
  • May 25-26
  • June 8-9

Once you've completed Fly Fishing 101, you're ready for the next step, Fly Fishing 201. Join Reno's Fly Fishing Manager Jan Nemec, author of Flyfisher's Guide to Nevada, for a short outing on local water for a chance to catch your first fish! Upon Completion of the courses, you will receive a special in-store offers valid toward purchase of Orvis products and a Free Trout Unlimited membership (a $35 value).
