Orvis funds assist bait dog

As reported today on Petfinder Foundation, Orvis is matching donations to the Petfinder Foundation up to $30000.

The Greater Charlotte SPCA is using their Orvis funds to help rehabilitate Adele, a dog found on the road in NC in late Dec. Adele was malnourished, had a raging 104 degree fever and loaded with bites that were infected.

Adele is now doing well enough to be adopted. She is in a foster home at her veterinarian's and absolutely loves everyone, whether adult or child.

According to Greater Charlotte SPCA president, Alex Wilson, "we do not turn these dogs away, but try to figure out how to say yes. The Petfinder Foundation grant will help us not worry as much about saying yes."

In addition to helping Adele, the Petfinder Foundation grant has also helped Rescue U volunteers who remodeled Carolina Waterfowl Rescue this month, helped Petco place trainers in eight high number shelters to train dogs in order to help their adoption, and will give thousands of Thundershirts to help cats and dogs with anxiety issues, including many puppy mill dogs. This giveaway will take place throughout 2013.
